“Wisdom without compassion is ruthlessness, compassion without wisdom is folly.” – Fred Kofman
This quote really resonated with me, especially since I had always been a people pleaser. The thought of hurting someone, even unintentionally, was horrifying. I often found myself shying away from telling people what I thought because I didn’t want them to feel bad.
So realizing that I might actually be hurting the very people I want to protect was an eye-opener. Now, when I find myself hesitating to share my opinion, instead of asking myself, “Will they feel bad”, I instead ask, “Would it be useful for them to know this?”, and if yes, “What’s the best way for me to tell them this so they can benefit from it”.
How will you bring both, your wisdom and compassion in your conversations today?
